“d is for dinosaur” craft for kids, using recycled scrap paper
This little recycled paper dinosaur has been sitting up on our wall for over a year. He was never intended to be a blog post, but he makes me smile, and that’s a good enough reason, if ever there was one.
JJ and I made him together. She was about 3.5 years old or so at the time, and starting to learn some letters.
We glued scraps of recycled paper (and other bibs and bobs) onto another piece of recycled paper, making sure not to leave any blank spots. Once the our collage was dry, I cut out a letter ‘d’ and a dinosaur shape, and glued these onto red paper. I like how the dinosaur overlaps. (The shiny green foil in the centre made it very tricky to photograph!)
When JJ saw it, she said “b is for brachiosaurus”. Haha! I should have realised that ‘dinosaur’ would be too generic for my little paleontologist.
After a slight clarification, we stuck it on the wall under our Dd alphabet letters (that I’d printed off and stuck up earlier.)
And that’s where it’s been for the past year. Reminding me of my spunky little girl before she knew her letters. The specific one. The one who thinks of brachiosaurus before she thinks of dinosaurs.
